Hospital Corpsman Third Class Leia DiBiasie of Saugus has re-deployed to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. DiBiasie, the USS NIMITZ and her fleet were first deployed in March 2003 in Support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and returned in November 2003.

DiBiasie, 24, serves as a Hospital Corpsman aboard the USS NIMITZ CVN 68. Not only does DiBiasie report for duty every day, attending to medical situations supporting the ship’s command of over 6,000 sailors and Marines, DiBiasie also manages over 6,000 medical records, insuring 100 percent accountability and proper documentation of all medical information.

She also facilitates and coordinates the tobacco cessation program for the entire ship, teaching and training all the risks of tobacco and helping personnel that want to kick the habit succeed. As the medical response team leader, DiBiasie responds to all medical emergencies throughout the ship, doing all of this while balancing an education work load of Biology and College Algebra.

DiBiasie has been a US Navy Corpsman for five years. Upon her return from the Gulf she will be assigned to US Naval Hospital Rota Spain for two years.

Orifice on duty in Turkey

Air Force Staff Sgt. Donald J. Orifice has arrived for duty at Incirlik Air Base, Adana, Turkey. Orifice, a pharmacy journeyman, is assigned to the 39th Medical Support Squadron.

He is the son of David P. and Diane M. Orifice of Sunnyside Park, Saugus. The sergeant is a 1997 graduate of Saugus High School.
