Tehran. The Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad stated that the world leading powers are trying to lay their hands o n the strategic region of the Persian Gulf and defined it as “the most important and politically sensitive region in the world”, IRNA reports.
“The Persian Gulf enjoys a special political and economic status. Our enemies have invested a lot of funds in order to gain their objectives here and they are still trying to spread hatred and hostility among the local Islamic groups”, the President said in his speech before political elite representatives in the province of Hormuzgan.
